What to do in Cozumel?

1.- Visit Punta Sur Reserve

Ecological park and nature reserve with more than 1000 hectares, home to many species of amphibians, birds, reptiles, turtles and much more, living among lakes, mangroves, swamps and beaches, perfect for ecotourism activities. Located 1 hour by car from Cozumel Airport, we recommend you to visit the following attractions:

• The Celerain Lighthouse offers incredible views of the Caribbean.
• Stroll through Colombia Lagoon, which is a refuge for the fauna of the area, we assure you that you will be amazed.
• El Caracol archaeological site, a Mayan temple that served as a reference point for boats in its time.

• Chunchacab beach, ending your visit to Punta Sur in this beach will be unique, with its clear, calm waters and fine sand.

2.- Water activities

Cozumel stands out for its beauty and one of the best ways to enjoy it is diving or snorkeling, as it is considered one of the best places in the world for this. Although there are several places on the island where you can practice these activities, we recommend you to go to the Cozumel Reef National Park, here you will have the best views to dive in the second longest barrier reef in the world and if you have experience you can explore the underwater caves. If you are a beginner we recommend taking a guided tour. 

Remember to always be a responsible traveler with the species that live there and follow the instructions of the guides.

A mandatory stop if you go to Cozumel is El Cielo, a sand bank and shallow crystalline waters that will take your breath away. Here you will be able to see starfish, manta rays and even sea turtles.

3.- Beaches

4.- Explore the jungle

You can take a tour through the jungle, where you will ride a quad bike into the caves and then enter one of the cenotes that are hidden among the vegetation. The jungle ecosystem in Cozumel is incredible as you can enjoy trails through mangroves, jungle, cenotes and beach. It is also possible to explore the jungle on guided hikes or by car, always remember to respect the protected natural areas.

5.- Enjoy downtown San Miguel Cozumel 

If you are looking for a more local atmosphere, the ideal is to stroll through the streets of San Miguel Cozumel, a couple of streets away from the port, there you will find the atmosphere of the locals. Enjoy a sunset at Benito Juarez Park and the Malecon. As in the heart of the city, you will find the Municipal Market with several food stalls with good prices and quality.
